How to Use the Friend List

One of our premier features is the in-game fully functional text-based friend list. Below is a list of commands for the friend list:

!flist
Displays the list of all the friends you have added with information including: name, race, current job (if not /anon), zone and a custom note, if set. If a friend does not have you added on their friend list, they will always show up as "OFFLINE" without the last-seen-online widget inside the brackets and you will not receive any notifications when they log in or out.

!flist help
Brings up a catalog of commands, much like this forum post. Type "!flist help [command]" for info on each command.

!flist add [name]
Adds the named player to your friend list. This command does not notify the player that you have added them.

!flist remove [name]
Removes the named player from your friend list. This command does not notify the player that you have removed them but you will now always show up as "OFFLINE" in their list, as described above.

!flist hide
Sets your status to "hidden", meaning you will show up as offline to your friends and they will no longer receive notifications when you log in or out. This command will send them a notification that you have just logged out. You can avoid having this notification being sent out by using "!flist hide SILENT" (which will also not update your "last online" time). Keep in mind you WILL still show up in "/search" queries. If you want to log into your character with hide on, you can put a single question mark before your username when logging in after opening the command window through ashita (ex. "?myusername" instead of "myusername").

!flist unhide
Sets your status to "visible", meaning you will show up as online to your friends while you are online and they will receive notifications when you log in or log out. This command will send your friends a notification that you have just logged in. You can avoid having this notification being sent out by using "!flist unhide SILENT".

!flist channel [param]
Sets the chat channel for all friend list messages from the server. Changing the channel will affect what color your friend list comes up in and will affect which window it is displayed in. Setting a channel is purely visual for how it displays in your client, it will NOT make the messages be sent publicly (ex. "!flist channel SHOUT" doesn't mean it gets shouted, only that it shows up in the shout color and has chat filters applied as if it was a shout). Valid channels are SAY, SHOUT, PARTY, LS1, LS2 and SYSTEM. The default channel is SYSTEM.

!flist size [param]
Sets what size your "!flist" display will be. Valid sizes are FULL and COMPACT. FULL is the default and COMPACT is incredibly useful for players who play with side-by-side windows which have less space to display information.

!flist notifs [param]
By default, you will get a notification whenever one of your friends logs in or out. If you are getting notifications too frequently, you can change this setting. Valid paramaters are ON, LOGINS, LOGOUTS and OFF. If set to ON, you will get both notifications. If set to LOGINS, you will only be notified when a friend logs in. If set to LOGOUTS, you will only be notified when a friend logs out. If set to OFF, you will receive no notifications.

!flist note [friend] [text]
This command will add a custom note to your friend which will display every time you load your list with "!flist". Notes are limited to 16 characters and it is recommended to use even less if you are on COMPACT size in a small window to avoid line overflow. Spaces are allowed in notes. If you wish to remove a note you have set to a friend, simply use "!flist note [friend] REMOVE". This is the most complex command since it has multiple arguments so here are a few examples: "!flist note Yamato helped w/ LB1", "!flist note Medica #1 whm for exp", "!flist note George REMOVE".
